Harvey Williams spectacular

Edwyn played an acoustic gig, assisted by Roddy Frame, last night at the Social. Harvey Williams, who took the photo, said it was “a real honour to be there. Edwyn is looking & sounding better every time I see him. Also: it's strange how indie pop is probably the least cool musical genre ever, yet there I was in a room full of meedja types punching the air & whooping it up to Falling & Laughing. A faith restorer, really; even more so than a traditional Edwyn show.”

Harvey, along with The Lodger, Strange Idols, Pocketbooks and many more, will be playing at an Edwyn Collins tribute night at the Social next Monday, 16 June, each covering an Edwyn or Orange Juice song.

If that’s not enough Harvey action for you – and why should it be? – Harvey will be DJing at the Hangover Lounge this Sunday afternoon, 15 June, at the Salmon + Compass in Angel.

While searching for some info on an old soul band Teachers Edition I found a site for a Chicago radio show called Sitting In The Park. A huge pile of MP3 interviews with some old bands, mostly Chicago based. Far more info about some very obscure bands than I've ever heard anywhere else:

Thanks, Simon, for the link. This kind of local history might be the only place we could ever find out more about great bands like The Trends, The Conquistidors, The Ivorys, Channel 3, Dontells, the Twinight acts, among many others...a number of whom are new to me. I look forward to finding out more...

The Harvey Williams cavalcade continues! Paul Morley's Twee documentary used a snatch of "I'm In Love With A Girl Who Doesn't Know I Exist" last night.

Does Harvey keep a list of what he plays when he DJs? I'd be keen on seeing his setlist from The Hangover Lounge.

And segued it straight into "All I Really Want To Do"! There is no higher compliment.

I can certainly keep a note of what I play on sunday. My last dj set is archived over on www.sotoughsocute.com . I won't be playing quite so much power pop on sunday though...
